Eelam Tamil Community Celebrates Global Peace at the Universal Peace Federation

The Eelam Tamil community, in collaboration with the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and under the sponsorship of Small Drops, convened a distinguished multicultural event on 2nd November 2025 in London. The gathering celebrated peacebuilding, intercultural dialogue, and educational development, uniting participants and organisations committed to promoting global harmony, social justice, and cultural understanding.


Nearly eighty participants from Peru, Portugal, Bangladesh, India, the United Kingdom, Eelam, Bulgaria, Turkey, Albania, Canada, the United States, Switzerland, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa attended the event, creating an inspiring environment of diversity, collaboration, and shared purpose.


*Universal Peace Federation: Two Decades of Commitment to Global Peace*


Mr Robin Marsh, representing the Universal Peace Federation (UPF-UK), delivered a keynote address detailing the Federation’s extensive history and mission. While operating under its current name for more than two decades, UPF traces its foundational vision back to the 1960s, emphasising moral leadership, interfaith cooperation, and education for sustainable peace.


Mr Marsh highlighted UPF’s ongoing role in fostering global partnerships and creating platforms where communities can unite to advance universal values, dialogue, and social cohesion.

*International Children’s Peace Network (ICPN): Peace Education from Childhood*


The International Children’s Peace Network (ICPN) presented its historical origins, noting that the initiative’s technical foundation began in 1979 in Bulgaria under the guidance of Neille. ICPN highlighted the critical importance of integrating peace studies into educational curricula, promoting discipline, empathy, and non-violence as essential foundations for the next generation of global citizens.


ICPN demonstrated that cultivating peace-oriented values in early childhood is vital to nurturing individuals who can meaningfully contribute to a harmonious and just society.

*Stop Human Trafficking CIC: Advancing Awareness and Justice*


The Stop Human Trafficking CIC Team, established two years ago, presented a comprehensive overview of its mission under the leadership of Dr Ramzey, CEO. The team outlined strategies to combat modern slavery, sexual exploitation, forced labour, and child trafficking, emphasising the urgent necessity of education, prevention, and community vigilance.


Dr Ramzey reinforced that preventing human trafficking is not only a moral imperative but also intrinsically linked to global peacebuilding, highlighting the vital role communities play in safeguarding human dignity.

*Five Years of Small Drops: Celebrating Visionary Leadership*


The event also marked the fifth anniversary of Small Drops, founded on 20th October 2020 by Balananthini Balasubramaniam (@Small Drops). Over five years, Small Drops has grown into a leading platform championing women’s empowerment, intercultural education, and community development.


In her address, Small Drops reflected on her personal journey of collaboration with multilingual and multicultural organisations, highlighting the importance of empathy, dialogue, and family values in fostering sustainable peace. She was formally honoured by participants from multiple nations for her exceptional contributions to community leadership and peace education.

The programme featured music, speeches, dramatic performances, interactive games, and concluded with a multicultural dinner. Guests enjoyed Eelam cuisine, English favourites, and Bulgarian specialities, exemplifying the harmony achieved through cultural exchange and shared experiences.


Commencing at 5:10 p.m. and concluding at 8:45 p.m., the event served as a testament to the power of unity in diversity, leaving participants inspired to continue their work for peace, justice, and intercultural understanding.
